The Opportunity
Denver, Colorado is home to one of the Rocky Mountain region's most complex neonatal programs — a Level IV NICU with a 40-bed census and a team of 60 FTEs. This director role carries full operational accountability for a unit that treats the highest-acuity neonatal cases in the region, including advanced respiratory, premature, and surgical neonatal patients. For a seasoned NICU nursing leader, it is the kind of scope that defines a career.
The position is structured for operational sustainability. Hours are Monday through Friday administrative days with no weekend obligation. On-call coverage is shared among three leaders, keeping the rotation manageable and protecting your time outside the unit. One opening is available.
This is a full-time permanent placement. The employer offers a competitive total compensation package that includes an incentive bonus. Sign-on consideration and relocation assistance are both evaluated on a case-by-case basis for the right candidate.
Candidates must hold current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Colorado or an active multistate RN license. BSN is required; an advanced degree — MSN, MBA, or MHA — is preferred. Current BLS certification is required. The ideal background includes at least five years of acute care or neonatal specialty nursing, paired with a minimum of three years in a charge, supervisory, or management role. Strong organizational skills, sound clinical judgment, and a demonstrated track record of leading teams through quality and performance improvement are essential.

The Package
Why Denver?
Denver sits at the base of the Rocky Mountains at exactly 5,280 feet above sea level — a geography that shapes how people live and work here. The city averages more than 300 days of sunshine annually, and the outdoor lifestyle is genuinely accessible, not just a marketing point. World-class ski resorts are less than two hours away. Miles of urban trail systems, cycling paths, and parks run through the city itself. Whether you are into hiking, climbing, skiing, or simply want the option to be outside most of the year, Denver delivers without the trade-offs that typically come with major metro living.
The city itself is a well-rounded, growing community. Neighborhoods like Capitol Hill, Wash Park, Highlands, and Stapleton offer distinct personalities, strong local restaurant and arts scenes, and genuinely livable day-to-day infrastructure. Denver is home to excellent public and private school options, a growing medical and biotech corridor, and a relatively manageable commute compared to peer cities its size. Colorado's flat state income tax structure adds meaningful financial appeal for professionals at the director level. For clinicians considering a long-term move, Denver consistently ranks among the most sought-after relocation destinations in the country — and once people arrive, they tend to stay.
