The Opportunity
This is a permanent Director-level opportunity leading a Level III NICU in El Paso, Texas. The unit operates 35 beds with 8 overflow capacity and is staffed by 60 FTEs — a substantial, well-resourced team inside a nationally recognized health system. If you're a senior NICU nurse leader ready to carry full operational ownership of a high-acuity unit, this role delivers the scope, the infrastructure, and the clinical credibility to do career-defining work.
One position is available. The schedule is full-time days with rotating weekends. This is a permanent placement — not a contract, not interim. The Director carries 24-hour accountability for the NICU, Transition Nursery, and NICU Transport program, with direct authority over staffing, budgeting, quality improvement, outreach, and physician relations. The operational reach is broad and the expectations are clear.
A sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 is approved and relocation assistance is available. Compensation is Competitive Based on Experience. A leadership incentive bonus opportunity tied to facility performance metrics is also part of the package. This is an organization that invests in its director-level leaders and provides the administrative structure to execute at a high level from day one.
Candidates must hold a BSN and current RN licensure in Texas or a compact state. Current BLS/BCLS, NRP, and S.T.A.B.L.E. certifications are required. MSN is preferred. The right candidate will bring demonstrated NICU leadership experience with the operational depth to manage a large, complex unit independently — including budgetary accountability, staff development, and quality oversight.
If you're a NICU nurse leader ready to move into a Director seat with real scope and real support, this is worth ten minutes of your time. Apply directly through this page or book a confidential call with our team. We'll walk you through the details and move quickly.

The Package
Why El Paso?
El Paso sits at the western tip of Texas where the Rio Grande bends south, flanked by the Chihuahuan Desert and the Franklin Mountains. Franklin Mountains State Park — the largest urban park in the United States — puts more than 100 miles of hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing trails directly within city limits. The region averages more than 300 days of sunshine a year, which makes outdoor living a realistic year-round proposition rather than a seasonal perk. Sunsets over the desert are a genuine daily event, and the pace of life here reflects a city that has figured out how to be large without feeling frantic.
The city consistently ranks among the safest large metros in the country, and that reputation is reflected in the neighborhoods. Housing costs sit well below the national average, commutes are short by any major city standard, and Texas has no state income tax — a director-level income in El Paso goes significantly further than the same salary in most comparable markets. El Paso's cross-border culture shapes everything from the food scene to the arts calendar, and the Tex-Mex culinary tradition here is the authentic version. Families are drawn by the affordability, the safety record, and the quality of life that a senior clinical income unlocks in a market like this. For candidates relocating from high-cost metros, El Paso tends to be a genuinely pleasant surprise.
